Opening Act: The Emotional Connection to 'I Hate It Here'

Ava

Hey friends! This is my first podcast ever and I’m so excited to see how you guys like it! So my podcast is called When the Party’s over, of course, named after the Billie Eilish song. Ill go over plenty of different topics but one of the most important ones is self-care. Every episode will be named after another song that I either relate to, or think that you guys will. This first episode is going to be about healthy ways to comunicate so that you and the people you are around enjoy life.

Ava

Our first song is I Hate It Here by Taylor Swift. This song embodies what its like to take yourself out of a situation and just get lost in your mind. And thats our topic today. Also this podcast includes a lot of AI so if you dont like that then idk man

Ava

So the first thing we are going to hit on is your everyday life. I personally have things that I do every single day of the week and I know a lot of other people are like that too. But you have to find time for yourself while also keeping on top of work and going to outside cirriculars and also staying social. All of that can be really difficult if you don’t know how to handle it and it can cause a lot of stress but we dont want stress. Something I’ve found out is that you will nearly always have some sort of stress going on. It’s like a roller coaster just up and down, however, using healthy tactics to deal with it can be a lot of help.

AI

Yeah I definitely agree with that. It's like a roller coaster all the time. Especially if youve got a schedule that doens't really allow a break time, it can be really difficult. Sometimes you feel amazing and sometimes you dont. Also, most of the time its not really a choice that you make, more of just how you feel. But there are things that you can do to influence how you feel during the day.

Ava

Okay so the first thing that I do on a daily basis is keep a journal. That sounds so basic and easy and most people would say “no that wont do anything I wont remember” but I promise you will. Set a reminder everyday for three weeks in your phone to write down something in your journal and youll remember. It takes about 3 weeks to make something a habit which is the only reason I specify. In this journal you can write down anything. Write how you’re feeling or write something good that happened in your day. I definitely try to veer away from writing bad things because that puts you in a bad environment. But yeah overall I would definitely say that journaling is very helpful.

AI

I've tried Journaing a few times but I can't ever keep up with it and remember to write. What do you think would be helpful to try?

Ava

I think putting a reminder in your phone for when you know you are always free, like early in the morning before school, or at night after all of your extracirriculars.

AI

It sounds like a pretty easy thing to keep up with. You said about 3 weeks to make it a habit so I'll just keep that reminder there for a while until I start to do it by myself without the alarm.

Ava

I think thats the best way to go about it.

AI

Is there anything else that effects you that you have a way to solve?

Ava

Yes! Another thing that can definitely effect you mentally is who youre hanging out with. If you are around someone who is constantly sad and always anti-social that might not be a good thing for you. Now, if it’s your best friend and they’re sad one day i’m not telling you to drop them. I’m mainly just talking about the people who hate their lives and they are always with you and you cant help but be gloomy around them. That person. That is not a person you need to be around. It’s scientifically proven that if you mimic the moods that you are around. Thats not a good thing to mimic, and its terrible for mental health. I would say if you have a friend like that maybe talk to them, see if theyre okay. But if it keeps going, then yeah I would start to distance myself from them. Also, thats not a selfish thing to do, it’s taking time away to better yourself so that you dont fall into the same loop as them.

AI

That sounds like a good idea, but what if they get mad? I cant just dissaccociate myself from someone because they aren't good.

AI

Well I think thats the main part of this. You have to figure out how to balance. So maybe you don't cut them off, but you can definitely distance yourself and just slowly see if it's just you that they aren't good with, or if it's everyone. I've found that to be the best way to tell if someone is really your friend or not,

AI

That's really smart, actually. I think that thats a good and healthy way to do that.

Ava

Yup, Is there anything else we were gonna cover today?

AI

Not that I know of!

Ava

All right, you guys, that’s a wrap for this episode of ! I really hope today’s episode gave you something to think about when it comes to taking care of yourself—whether it’s about setting aside time for you, finding moments to recharge, or just remembering how important it is to listen to what your mind and body need. This has honestly been one of my favorite episodes to create, and I have to give a big thanks to Jellypod.AI for helping make it all come together.
